Did you just suffer an immediate or delayed reaction to something you ate? The reaction was hives, intense heat, prickly sensation, itchy or red patches all over the body or rapid heart rate? You are not along a lot people suffer from digestive issues due to intestinal permeability (leaky gut), infections, parasites, food sensitivities. About two years ago all of the sudden, I started to react to tomatoes with hives and mild skin itching. This was unusual for me so I went looking for something that would help that was natural and not Benadryl as I knew Benadryl was a band aid. I only took 3 dosages of the healing oil for about 2 days. Well, that is all it took for me to be able to eat tomatoes again! Halleluiah, God the creator has given as all the food that we need to be used as medicine and to nourish our body. Just like Hippocrates said “Let your food be thy medicine and your medicine thy food.”

Let me introduce you to this wonderful food. It is Nigella Sativa! I use it when I need extra support. I do not use it as an everyday supplement, but whenever I need support for infections or food sensitivity. When one experiences food sensitivities or allergies, is usually related to the causes I mentioned above. To correct digestive issues, you will need to implement a complete protocol with healthier diet, food sensitivity testing, plus other gut interventions, but Nigella Sativa can definitely help you achieve a healthier you faster and safer.

Nigella Sativa

It appeared in the bible in the old testament first, Isiah 28:25,27 NKJV. In the bible it has been quoted as curing everything, but death itself.

Nigella Sativa is also known as Black cumin and Kalonji. Annual flowering plant in the family Ranunculaceae (Buttercup or Crowfoot family, little frog).


Contains linoleic acid, oleic acid, palmitic acid, trans-Anethole, Thymoquinone 36-38%

(phytochemical), Carvacol (monoterpenoid phenol) and other components.

You may recognize Carvacol and Thymoquinone these compounds have healing capabilities in the areas of viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections.

Hum? Yes, you read right!

The mouth is the gateway into the digestive tract. Keeping your teeth and gums healthy is important for proper chewing and overall good health. If your bite is off or have dental work that is broken, you will have problems keeping your teeth clean. Retained food on the teeth and gums feeds the bacteria good or bad that lives in the mouth. Excessive plaque will not only irritate your gums, but will erode the enamel right off your teeth. Also, the microorganism that eat the enamel will also eat and destroy the bone that surrounds the teeth (periodontal disease) making the teeth mobile. This mobility leads to further trauma to the teeth and bone. Teeth are supposed to be stationary and not moving around like shift gear in a car!

Other causes of gum disease are diabetes, hormonal imbalaces,medications, and some genetic disorders.  Periodontal disease can lead to heart disease.  In fact, cardiologist are sending patients to the dentist to get clearance that the patient is free of gum disease prior to surgery.  In this case periodontal disease equals to inflammation.

When you are diagnosed with periodontal disease it means that your gums, the connective tissue has separated from the root of the tooth and nourishment has been severed. To restore the health of the teeth and gums your dentist or hygienist will suggest a root planning and scaling treatment. This treatment is the first line of defense in reversing disease and is the least invasive. It involves scaling and root plaining the crown and the root of the teeth to remove the debris & calculus that is preventing the attachment of the roots to the rest of the body. Your dentist may prescribe antibiotics too. The normal attachment of the roots to gums varies in depth from 1 to 3 mm (normal sulcus), but in periodontal disease these called pockets varying 5-12 mm in depth making homecare very difficult.

This is why is important if possible to brush your teeth 2-3x per day and to floss once per day. Visiting your dentist at least twice per year for a prophylactic treatment of gums and teeth. This visit will include an oral cancer screening too.

As a health coach and someone that was a dental hygienist for 28 years I can tell you that in order for dental treatment to be successful you will have to implement:

• Eating healthier- More plant based, ¾ plate, but still include healthy animal protein as it is needed to rebuild the bone and connective tissue.

• Supplement with vitamin C and Zinc taken simultaneously for better absorption. In other words, it is necessary for connective tissue and wound healing process.

• If you are given antibiotics, a natural alternative is Wild oregano oil (Mediterranean source),7-14 days,3x per day, but always check with your dentist or physician first. Gum disease is a long process to reverse so be patient with yourself and those taking care of your dental condition. Health is a journey and not a destination! The reason I am suggesting an herbal antibiotic is that many times the antibiotics are prescribed for a period of 3 months or longer. Antibiotics are wonderful in an emergency, but given for long times it will destroyed the gut flora leaving you with all sort of problems that affect digestion. Herbal remedies also need to be taken with caution and your constitution needs to be taken in consideration when using them.

• Flossing deep periodontal pockets is best done with super floss. Super floss has a section that has a sponge that can be saturated in antibacterial solutions. A good one is organic olive leaf extract oil. You can find this oil in the refrigerated section of the health food stores.

How to heal SIBO with food

If you have been dealing with on and off diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, bloating or gas you might have SIBO!

SIBO stands for Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth. Bacteria that normally grows in the Colon can start to creep up and grow in the small intestine causing all sort of problems including malnutrition. The cause of SIBO is not fully understood, but modern medicine thinks that is related to Celiac disease, Crohn’s, Irritable bowel disease, viral infection, gastric surgeries that cause scar tissues, not emptying the bowels fully and fecal matter remaining stack in the intestinal wall causing rotting of foods, Cirrhosis of the liver, Gallbladder changes, parasites, hypothyroid conditions, aging, fatty stools (steatorrhea), B12 deficiency, anemia. The two processes that most commonly predispose to bacterial overgrowth are diminished gastric acid secretion (hCL) and small intestine dys-motility this comes with aging.

The overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine is characterized by Gram-positive bacteria. Gram-positive bacteria have outer ring of peptidoglycan in outer cell wall. Gram-positive bacteria include strep, staph, anthrax and diphtheria.

SIBO is also marked with over production of methane and hydrogen gasses. These gasses can cause serious malabsorption of nutrients and fats causing the patient to fail to thrive. If the patient present with frequent constipation, is more likely that they have and overgrowth of bacteria that produces methane gasses and if there is more diarrhea present is more likely that the patient will have an overgrowth of hydrogen gas producing bacteria. The food present in the small intestine will rot much faster in the presences of these gram-positive bacteria as they thrive in anoxia or hypoxic conditions in other words in the presences of low or no oxygen. . The bacteria will ferment the food very quickly preventing proper absorption of nutrients, fats and carbohydrates as it metabolizes bile salts to unconjugated or insoluble compounds or bile acid diarrhea.

There are two test available in the market that a patient can obtain through their physician. One involves a highly skill surgeon to insert a biopsy instrument in the esophagus to take a culture and therefore is not recommended as the risk outweigh the benefits. The other is a breath test called Lactulose breath test. Is a noninvasive test that involves the patient consuming Lactulose a synthetic Disaccharide made by VistaPharm. Disaccharides are poorly absorbed in the gastro intestinal tract of humans. The lactulose will make it unchanged into the distal end of the small intestine. Making detection of bacterial over growth possible.

The correct treatment for SIBO should involve finding the root cause, nutritional counseling and treating overgrowth of bacteria. Conventional treatment for over growth of bacteria involves conventional antibiotics. These are some time controversial, because sometimes the antibiotics make the condition worse. Antibiotics used are: Rifamaxin 400 mg for 10 days tid, Ciproflaxin, Tetracycline, Amoxicillin/Cluvonalate and many more. The antibiotics unfortunately also have many side effects that can bring complications to the treatment.

Natural treatments for anti-bacterial herbals are: Nigella Sativa, oregano herbs, thyme, marjoram, CBD oil to calm inflammation, Megaspore, this spore probiotic has shown clinically that it can put SIBO in remission, essential amino acids, vitamin c, zinc, B12, B6.

If you are suffering from pain and not thriving, ask your physician for the breath test for SIBO. Change your diet to an SCD diet** (Specific Carbohydrate diet).  The SCD diet was created and tested over 50 years by Dr.Haas and biochemist Elaine Gottschall.

Elaine Gottschall wrote a book called “Breaking the vicious Cycle” about treating intestinal issues and the diet called SCD. This book was the result of her 4-year-old becoming very ill with ulcerative colitis that would bleed.

The SCD diet has many wholesome foods that has allowed many people to heal. Part of the mal absorption happens because patients are not able to break down sugars and starches. The only sugar allow in the SCD diet is honey as it is a monosaccharide.* Starches,  and mucilaginous foods are not allowed either. *Monosaccharides are single bond sugars that are absorbed by the body immediately without any conversion.

Nowadays, there is a lot of confusion about grains. Some say eat no grains, but if you start to restrict too much the diversity of foods you will starve some of the bacteria in your intestines making some foods eventually indigestible to your gut ecosystem.  So what is one to do?  Well, you have to implement bio-individuality when eating as one man’s food is another man’s poison!

My advice is to always listen to your body for clues whether a food agrees with you, and if possible, buy local, organic, non GMO or conventional free of pesticides and hormones.  Know your food source, sustainable farming is around us and is so easy to support your local farmers. How to get rid of white patches in fingernails

Do you know how signs of poor nutritional absorption show in the body?  Do you pay attention to these signs?  Signs like white patches and ripples on your fingernails are just few of those signs.  

Fragile fingernails, white patches or vertical lines on the fingernails are just some of the signs of poor nutritional absorption of micronutrients and macronutrients. You may be surprised to know that even if a person is underweight or overweight they can be nutritionally deficient. How is this possible? Well, their digestive system has become compromised due to emotional or physical stress in the body. Some of the physical stressors are toxins, diet, life style, medications, foods that lack nutritional content or infections such as viral, bacterial or parasitic. Last, but not least, dental infections. Watch the movie Root Cause on Netflix or Amazon. The movie will educate you and open your eyes! If you are having unexplained health conditions, you may want to visit a holistic dentist to diagnose hidden infections.

Let me explain how toxins prevent nutritional absorption in the intestines. Toxins attach to the receptors of the cells in the digestive system causing displacement of the minerals and vitamins (micronutrients). Instead the micronutrients are passed into the lumen of the digestive system for excretion leaving the person malnourished or literally starving. This constant circle of exposure to toxins from the environment, personal care products or other chemicals eventually damages the villi of the small intestine. The body starts to protect itself by producing extra mucus around the tops of the villi preventing the enzymes that reside at the tips of the villi from coming in contact with the partially digested foods in the small intestine. The extra mucus is a barrier that will not allow the enzymes to break down the food further. This undigested food remains undigested into the small intestine or colon fermenting, rotting and causing disease. A dysbiosis condition will arise and/or autoimmunity.

Over use of medications and infections can cause dysbiosis and damage of the digestive system in the same manner as described above. The golden age of prescribing medications such as antibiotics without regards to the host health is over. Life style or emotional stress will also damage the digestive system as well as the immune system.

Some of the nutrients missing in an individual with physical signs of fingernail or toenail damage are Zinc, Magnesium, B12, B9, B6, Potassium, D3 and Vitamin C. You may ask what can I do to reverse the damage? Plenty! You can start by changing the diet to more Paleo, SCD, Mediterranean and plant based. Half of your plate should be vegetables, ¼ fruits and ¼ protein. It should include healthy fats like Olive and avocado oil that are rich in Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids, organic miso aged for 3 to 4 years to repopulate the intestinal healthy bacteria, HCL supplementation, prebiotic foods, probiotic spores and clean filter water. Clean water has oxygen that can help clear toxins out of the body, but also supports the life of the bacteria in the gut (Aerobic bacteria). This imbalance leads to fermentation and rotting of food in the small intestine that can lead to SIBO and parasitic infections.

According to CDC in the USA, millions of people are infected with parasites. These gut infections also tax other organs like the liver causing nonalcoholic fatty liver or blockage of the Common bile duct in the gallbladder and many more end conditions like even possibly cancer. The mentality that parasites only exist in third world countries is not up to date. Read the CDC disclosure about parasites in the USA. Best practice is always wash hands and stay healthy by building up your immune system. Herbs like oregano, Vidanga, Neem, Japanese Knotweed, apricot seeds and many others can help with infections. Please always work with your health care provider as it is difficult to stamp infections out. Some of these organisms are microscopic and some are visible to the naked eye, but they always multiply by the thousands in a matter of days or weeks. A well-educated functional medicine doctor should be able to help you regain your health.

Implementing a protocol to support your liver, kidney, and lymph system will be helpful. There are many supplements available, but you should always consult with your physician or health care team. Nonalcoholic fatty liver sometimes can benefit from implementing small cup of coffee mixed with organic pure olive oil about 1-2 teaspoons in the morning before eating. This will cause the bowels to move in the morning, but it might be smart to have this cup of coffee in morning at least one hour before breakfast to make sure your breakfast will not be moved too fast before it is digested leaving you with no nutrition. It is thought that coffee helps by lowering the liver stiffness due to the fat accumulation.

Amino acid support is also very helpful as many foods are incomplete proteins that will not help rebuild the connective tissue or muscle. Also, Vitamin C in conjunction with the mineral Zinc form a synergistic action in wound healing and collagen production. These micro-nutrients might need to be supplemented in order to help reverse damage to the digestive system, immune system or fingernails, etc.

Vitamin D3 the most absorb-able form for the human body is extremely important to repair the immune system, responsible for increasing intestinal absorption of magnesium, phosphorus, and calcium in the intestines and the number one source is from the sun. Implementing walking 4-5 times per week for 30 minutes a day can provide you with additional vitamin D3 in your body to maintain adequate levels and keep you healthy. Sun exposure in moderation is actually great for seasonal mood disorders too.

Magnesium is also important because it is necessary for thousands of enzymatic reactions in the body, glucose regulation and energy production along many other process. People with fatty liver disease are at a higher risk of magnesium deficiency.

Declutter your life style and implement time for self-care. Do things that will nurture your spirit and body. Remember you matter. Take care of yourself. Read a book, breathing meditation or go for a massage. Is okay to say no. You do not have to explain or give a reason not to undertake job or social commitment. Deep breathing meditation from the belly can help reverse auto immune disorders, lower blood pressure, help with anxiety and depression.

Last, but not least, proper and complete elimination of waste is critical. If this is not happening, your colon and small intestines will become toxic and sick with your overall health suffering. Support your digestive system by spacing meals 4-5 hours apart, reduce snacking between meals, and avoiding food for at least 3 hours before bed. Rhubarb organic capsule supplement 1g per day should help you eliminate waste without causing habit formation until your digestive system heals.

Disease takes a long time to manifest and you may not have paid attention to the clues your body gave you alone the way. Be patient with yourself  healing will also take time to happen. Start by listening to your body and the divine universe.  Live with gratitude and compassion.

What is in your flour? Do you know

Do you know what is in your flour? How was it processed?

Please read the label! You will be surprised to find out that many wheat flours are not genetically modified in the US, but chemically modified. This chemical modification has the power to alter the ecosystem in your gut with the potential to making you sick. As an example, the spraying of glyphosate during the growth and drying process of wheat is permitted in the US. Glyphosate is also used as an antibiotic in the US. Please be an informed consumer.

There are other factors that determine the quality of the flour and the miller has these choices: Natural or chemical aging of the grains, extraction rates, tempering of bran or mellowing the endosperm among other practices. Some milling practices can cause grains to loss nutrients during the process. This is why many flours are enriched. This enrichment has no effect in the baking quality of the flour.

Bleaching of the flours is done to produce a natural colored flour and a soft crumb in baking, but it also destroys the flour’s natural carotenoids nutrients. Bleaching agents used are: Benzoyl peroxide & chlorine gas used to chemically age the flour. Bleached flours are not good for breads as they produced a white and mellow flavor bread. Potassium bromate and ascorbic acid is used to mature and age the flours, but they do not bleach. Some States in the US require disclosing to consumers that some ingredients added during the processing of flour can cause ill health effects.

Preservatives added to flours are: calcium propanoate, sodium benzoate, tricalcium phosphate, and butylated hydroxyanisole.

Malting is used to treat wheat flours with the addition of malted barley flours. Malting aids in the conversion of starches to dextrins into fermented sugar like maltose. The natural occurring yeast can then feed from the sugars helping it convert into carbon dioxide (CO2) and alcohol. Malt improves fermentation, crust color and the volume of baked goods.

It is best to use organic grains if possible, but a least, grown without chemicals or pesticides . Try to use the whole grain to provide full nutrition to your body. Grains have 3 parts to them: the bran, the endosperm & the germ. The endosperm contains protein, starches and water; the germ contains fats & micronutrients; and the bran is rich in fiber (cellulose) and minerals.

This book will use the following wheat flours:

• All-purpose flour derived from hard or soft wheat, 10 to 12 grams of protein content.

• Bread flour – wheat derived from hard wheat, 12 to 16 grams of protein content.

• Cake flour – wheat derived, soft wheat, 7 to 9 grams of protein content.

• Whole grain wheat flour with a protein content of 16 grams of protein.

Use the right protein content to achieve the right texture and consistency. Below is the formula to determine the protein content of your flour.

Package is marked with 34 g per serving (1/4 cup), 4 g protein. What is the protein % of the flour? The answer is 11.7 protein. This percentage is good for an all-purpose flour jobs!

1. Grams of protein per cup of flour (34 g)

2. 4grams protein x 100=400

3. 400g total protein/34per serving= 11.7%percentage of protein in the flour

How to do belly breathing & tapping

Do you know how to help heal your body & mind faster?

The techniques I share below I personally use often and can give you a testimonial that these techniques work!

I have two quick suggestions for you: Diaphragmatic breathing, research shows that deep breathing from the belly can help heal the mind & body physically. Sometimes we are wrapped up in our busy lives and forget how to breathe properly. Breathing from the chest triggers the sympathetic system, which is also known as the fight or flight response. Think of it as a surge of energy that you get if you think your life is in danger because a tiger is chasing you. This surge of energy is great in this case because hopefully you will outrun the tiger allowing you to stay alive, but is not so good to trigger the sympathetic system every day. Why? Due to constant over production of stress hormones like cortisol that can cause inflammation making you sick. Here is how to properly breathe: Sit comfortably & take a deep breath through the nose to fill your belly and exhale through the nose. Repeat this step twice, next add a one word affirmation of choice like one and repeat through the breath. This one word affirmation will help you focus and meditate on your breathing. Keep doing this for 5 full minutes repeating the single word of choice and breathing through and exhaling out the nose. Make sure your breaths are going straight into your belly and not into your upper chest area. You can do this breathing exercise twice per day and eventually you will learn to breathe properly.

My second tip is tapping also known as EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). Tapping is based on ancient Chinese acupressure points or meridian points. Tapping uses mind–body connections to heal layers of trauma and pain that accumulate from early in life in our bodies. I learned to apply tapping to my life through The Tapping solution Organization with Nick Otner. I think is a great tool to release negative blocks of energy. I believe it works! Give both of my suggestions a try as I know they work and it must just surprise you. I am providing a link for you to learn how to tap.

How to remove parasites from your intestines

Are you ready to divorce your waist line?

In order to divorce your waist line, you have to improve your digestion.

There are just few simple steps that will ensure better digestion and are easy to implement on your daily routine, but first you need some simple knowledge of digestion. As we get older the ph. of the digestive juices (HCL) in the stomach decrease as well as enzyme production. Hydrochloric acid or Muriatic acid (known as HCL) is an inorganic acid, colorless, pungent in smell and very acidic, ph 3.01. Hydrogen chloride a gas, dissolves readily in water. The role of HCL in our body is to:

1. Purify food (This prevents food poisoning and unwanted guests in your body.

2. Breaks down protein essential for proper body function and energy production (ATP). It gets you going!

3. Stimulates the production of Pepsin a digestive enzyme that helps stomach brake down food. It prevents sending large portions of indigestive food into the small intestine. Large portions of undigested food have the potential of damaging the surface of your small intestine were the villi resides (hair like projections), responsible for a large portion of nutritional absorption.

4. Pepsinogen is released from the stomach walls when mixed with HCL and activates to become more Pepsin.

The last bit of anatomy that you need to know in order to improve your digestion is that digestion starts in the mouth. It means you need to chew and chew your food well. Enzyme Amylase gets released from the salivary glands in your mouth. This enzyme brakes down carbohydrates up to 30% (starches & sugars). It also sends message to the stomach that food is coming and to get ready to process the food.

Here are the steps to improve digestion:

• Start your day with a full glass of water 8 oz. with a small splash of fresh lemon juice or 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar with mother (or, if you have SIBO use ACV with no mother).

• Drink water only 30 minutes before meals and not with the meals as you will dilute the natural occurring HCL in your stomach were the main portion of food digestion or break down takes place.

• Chew, Chew and Chew your food well before swallowing and it will get absorbed better and faster by your body. This action prevents unwanted guests from eating your food. It also slows, digestion preventing the food from moving too quickly without first removal of nutrients by your body.

• Eat mindfully (no distractions or lots of activity) while eating.

• If you are passed the age of 30, is likely that you might need to supplement with digestive enzymes. A multi-purpose digestive enzyme that contains Pepsin and HCL is recommended. Please do your homework in this area as not all supplements are created equally or are safe. There are all kinds of enzymes that brake different foods. Like enzymes to digest fats, carbohydrates (Starches and sugars) and proteins, etc. Follow the manufacture instructions when taking the enzymes with Pepsin and HCL. Some are used immediately after you consume the foods others are used before you eat.

• Last, but not least if you have any type of ulcer or ulcerative colitis you will have to repair the lining first before implementing the addition of HCL suggestion. Repairing the lining can take few months. Always consult with your doctor before implementing new food or supplement guidelines.

Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) has a long history of use for treating digestive discomforts.1 In Ayurvedic and

Traditional Chinese Medicine, licorice is well-known for its ability to protect the gastric mucosa and modulate everyday inflammation. However, most supplements contain deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) because

large amounts of glycyrrhizin have been associated with serious adverse side effects like elevated blood

pressure and lowered potassium levels. Gutgard® licorice flavonoids are entirely different from DGL with

respect to chemistry, composition, manufacturing, and mechanisms of action. While a classical extract of

DGL does not contain any significant quantity of flavonoids, Gutgard® is standardized to contain more than

10% total flavonoids and less than 0.5% glycyrrhizin to avoid undesirable effects. More than 50 flavonoids

have been identified in Gutgard® which have been shown to have beneficial activity for digestive complaints.2 In fact, Gutgard® licorice flavonoids have been shown to protect the stomach lining and balance

Helicobacter pylori levels much more effectively than regular DGL extracts.3 Gutgard® licorice can also

Artichoke (Cynara scolymus) leaf extract (ALE) has also been used in traditional medicine as a digestive aid.

The bitter compounds, particularly cynaropicrin, are responsible for the digestive benefits of artichoke. ALE

has been shown to increase bile production, protect the liver, balance blood lipids, and act as an antispasmodic.4-10 In 2003, German researchers demonstrated that 640mg/day of artichoke leaf extract significantly

improved digestive symptoms like bloating and fullness as well as quality of life in 244 patients with functional dyspepsia. Though the study was conducted over 6 weeks, the majority of the treatment group saw

relief of their digestive symptoms in the first week.11


Ginger (Zinziber officinalis) has been used as a digestive aid in Eastern medicine for generations. Studies

have demonstrated that ginger accelerates gastric emptying and can relieve occasional bouts of nausea and

vomiting.12-13 Gingerols and shogaols, the active polyphenolic compounds in ginger, appear to be responsible for such effects by weakly inhibiting cholinergic M3 and serotonergic 5-HT3 receptors, whose temporary

dysfunction is responsible for nausea, vomiting, and hypomotility.14-15 Ginger extracts with a higher gingerol

content (20-30% gingerols) are stronger and more effective at relieving digestive discomforts. In 2015, an

Italian study of 126 patients found that the daily combination of 40 mg of ginger extracts (25-30%

gingerols) with 200 mg of artichoke leaf extracts reduced the severity and frequency of common digestive

symptoms like nausea, bloating, early satiety, and abdominal pain 17% more effectively than just artichoke

leaf extract alone.16 While most ginger extracts only contain 5% gingerols, MegaGuard™ contains 60 mg of

high potency ginger root extract (20% gingerols) for maximum strength.
